We were contacted by Hackthorn Primary School to help make a draughty canopy a more usable space. The open sided canopy would allow wind, rain and detritus to blow into the space making it a dirty, cold and generally unusable space for much of the year. After much discussion with staff the design and subsequent construction allows for year round use. The long open side has been fitted out with large roll up PVC blinds with clear windows, whilst the end facing most of the elements was completely clad in timber with access door. The opposite end was clad with timber with the addition of a number of shaped windows to add interest but also too allow as much natural light into the space as possible. The school are so happy with the result giving them much needed indoor/outdoor learning space. Some before and after pictures can be viewed below.
